Abstract：The paper illustrates the main characteristics at the regional structure development for Xi'an city from Tang dynasty (618-907A.D).It points out the changes of the regional structure for Xi'an city during the past 1300 years' history within the following 4 aspects:
1.Urban scale from large to small,then back to large and this changes complicatedly.
2.Administrative functions area changed from centralized to distributed and back to centralized relatively.
3.Urban economical functions grows continuously and commercial land which turn into system gradually.
4.Residential area which has the tendency to change from the specification to mixture and then to separation.
